Marc Ellison is our April SPARKS Learner of the Month winner- We caught up with him to find out what it means to win.

23-year-old Marc is currently in the third year of his course studying level 3 Electrical Installation at Northern Regional College while also serving as an apprentice with T&G electrical who are based in Islandmagee in Northern Ireland. “Throughout my time working with T&G I have gained a wide range of experience from working in houses and apartment blocks to working in schools, offices, and commercial buildings,” explained Marc.

When asked to tell us more about the photo he submitted for the competition, Marc went on to say “The photo I submitted for the award is a three-phase distribution board which is supplying sockets and lights in the communal areas of an apartment block as well as the lift supply, lift shaft lights and outdoor lights.”

Marc was very pleased to have won the Learner of the Month award, adding “It’s great to know other people appreciate my work.”

Megger sponsored April’s award offering the MET100 to the winner. When asked what he will do with his prize, Marc said “My prize will come in very useful on-site, I am currently doing my inspection and testing unit in college so it is a good time for me to win the MET100.”

Finally, we asked Marc to tell us a bit more about his career goals and what he enjoys most about the industry. Marc’s goal is simply to be a successful Electrician as he enjoys the wide range of work that he does every day. He finished by saying “No day is the same and I enjoy learning new things every day.”

Congratulations Marc! Entries are now open for the May award, with a Makita 96-piece electricians set and Bluetooth radio on offer to the winner!

To enter, electrical students and apprentices must tag us in a photo of their work on social media and use #SPARKSLOTM. Our favourites (up to a maximum of eight) then go to a public vote at the end of the month before a winner is crowned. For full entry info, click here.
