The Smart Tech Live 2017 seminar programme is confirmed

Tickets are still available for Smart Tech Live 2017 London (9th June) & York (15th June), where panel discussions will cover the definition of ‘smart’ and business opportunities with smart solutions.

Held in association with the ECA, the goal of Smart Tech Live is to inform and educate aspirational electrotechnicians about smart, connected, and innovative technologies that will help give their business a competitive edge in an evolving industry.

Smart Tech Live will bring together technical experts from the electrotechnical industry’s top manufacturers and associations in a comprehensive seminar programme, tailored towards the challenges and opportunities facing installers in the near future.

The programme

The doors open early at 08:30 for breakfast and an optional, CPD-accredited seminar from ABB covering air circuit breakers, smart meters and KNX systems.

The seminar will be opened by the ECA at 09:50, with CEO Steve Bratt speaking in London and President Mike Smith introducing proceedings in York.

Voltimum will then host the first panel discussion of the day. They will debate what makes a building truly smart and consider the importance of understanding the varying levels of intelligence and integration provided by different solutions.

The seminar programme will then move onto specific applications of smart solutions. Legrand will cover opportunities in assisted living. ABB will discuss residential applications and smart homes. This will be followed by a presentation from Schneider Electric on ‘smart’ distribution in commercial environments.

Just before lunch, a special presentation from CEDIA will consider the standards in the smart home. This will look at the influence of BS 7671, the new CEDIA BSI PAS 34591 and discuss BS EN15232 and Part L1A of Building Regulations (conservation of fuel and power in new dwellings).

After lunch, the ECA will chair the final panel discussion. This will focus on the business opportunities that smart solutions can unlock for electrical contractors, and where newcomers can find value in this developing market.

The panel is scheduled to finish at 14:45 but the event will remain open until 15:30 for those who would like to enjoy a coffee and network.
