All finalists confirmed for the Grand Final

SPARKS Magazine has travelled across seven regions of the UK on a quest to find the 2018 SPARKS UK Electrical Apprentice of the Year and now the eight finalists have been confirmed.

The finalists consist of the seven regional heat winners and the highest runner-up overall scorer, so there will be eight people participating in the final in total, which will take place at the 3M Customer Innovation Centre on 11th and 12th April.

Here are the finalists attending:

North East – Tom Burdett, York College

North West – Kane Barker, Burnley College

South West – Luc Mathlin, DCET Training

Wales – Jay Popham, Gower College Swansea

Midlands – Jacob Robinson, Leicester College

South East – Matt Taylor, Farnborough College

Northern Ireland – Jack Clarke, South West College

Highest runner-up overall scorer – Alister Bawden, Cornwall College Camborne

They will be given a task in the form of a drawing that they will have to complete in their individual bays across the two days.

Just like the year before, the prizes up for grabs will be worth a staggering £8,000 from the competition’s sponsors.

Alongside the prestige for both student and college of winning a UK competition, there’s a fantastic list of prizes up for grabs which have all been donated by well-known industry names including Platinum sponsor Schneider Electric, Gold sponsor CEF, Silver sponsor Knipex and Bronze sponsors 3M and Hitachi.

Who will be the SPARKS UK Electrical Apprentice of the Year 2018 winner? Only time will tell!
